Typical dehydrators heat and grind food into dried scraps that rehydrate and rot if they get wet. GEME Pro is a biological reactor that actually digests the waste.

Est-il vraiment conçu pour une utilisation quotidienne en intérieur avec contrôle des odeurs ?

Yes. GEME Pro uses an industrial-grade Metal Ion Oxidation filter (not cheap charcoal). It breaks down odor molecules at a molecular level. It smells like a forest floor after rain.

Small bones (chicken, fish) are fine and will decompose. Large, dense bones (beef leg, pork shoulder) take a very long time and are best avoided to prevent mechanical wear.

The coolest thing about the GEME composter is that you continuously add food to the compost system and empty it when it gets full (typically every 2 months for a household of 5). Once full, it is ready to use in your garden as true finished compost.

It’s sleek, modern, and actually works.
Our boys love helping — and we love that it’s become a simple, meaningful family ritual.
We toss in the scraps… and a few hours later, we’re feeding our garden.

From scraps to soil to strawberries — they’re learning to give back to the earth… and getting to taste the difference. 🍓

If you’ve been compost-curious, this is the one 😎

I have been using it for a few months now. It is not a dehydrator, it does heat up the contents but usually keep it at around 60-70c. There is very little smell to it, if anything I say it smell like coffee grind. It does use electricity and everything from my kitchen goes into it except hard bones. I get cheap overnight electricity so I just turn it on with a smart plug at 12 midnight and auto turn off at 7am etc. It is not a compost bin for everyone and if you have open space or don't mind the labour work then outdoor heap is a lot simpler. I am lazy and just keep adding and once every 4 weeks takes out 2/3 of the content and use it in my garden.

We got a Geme while on sale. It was still expensive- about $700. We like it. We have a greenhouse & have composted our food waste for over 30 years. This makes real compost quickly & there is no bringing waste outside, turning compost, etc. we live in northern MN & now we’ll be able to compost all yr. round.
It’s not for everyone, mostly because it’s pricey. We cut stuff up so nothing is long enough to wrap around the mixers. Avoid putting fruit pits & most bones in it. …it’s great if you are ready to give up the riggers of outdoor composting & spend the $.

Functions Exactly as Intended & Great Post-Transaction Customer Support

I live in a rural area on septic so I am very careful about what can go down the drain. Geme being the size of a normal kitchen trash can is super convenient to just scrap food waste into it and let it turn into great compost for my garden. Helps keep rotting food out of my trash to draw in predators to my chickens/dogs and lets me utilize my food waste instead of sending it off to a landfill. Customer service is excellent as well! I bought one of the earlier models available. One of the plastic gears bent after several months of frequent use so the chain that turns the rotor slipped off and the device was unable to churn the compost. I contacted Geme and they send me a newly designed, sturdier gear free of charge. It's nice to see a company that honors their warranty and is continually looking for customer feedback and flaws in their devices that they can upgrade! Super happy that the new gear could be retrofitted on to the new device instead of having to replace the entire unit to further reduce plastic/appliance waste ending up in landfills! Geme is worth every penny!

No regrets

We are over 2 years (26 months) enjoying our GEME. It's awesome. I don't like wastefulness so being able to not only recycle our kitchen scraps but to reuse them in our garden has been really satisfying. I have lost track of the amount of compost we have been able to empty from GEME and use in our garden, but It's a lot. Maybe the equivalent of 2 to 3 large bags of compost that I used to buy from the garden store. If I think of the cost of buying compost, GEME is probably gonna pay for itself in another couple years. For FYI, compost is 'hot' so you shouldn't put it directly into your garden. We empty our GEME into a large plastic trash can and store outside for a 2-3 months to 'cool down' before we mix with our garden soil. The GEME is relatively quiet, like a hum. A bit louder than a modern refrigerator or in room air cooler/air cleaner. If I accidentally put too much moist waste in, then I can hit the dehydrator button and GEME dries the compost. If the compost has caked at the bottom because I put too much moist stuff in there, then I use the little scoop that it comes with, and I stirr the compost around. If it looks a little dry, I can add a bit of water. If it starts to smell, which is rare, I can press the deodorized button. Even though it is allowed, I choose not to put bones in GEME because even a small bone like a chicken leg can get caught in the blades, and it rubs against the liner and makes a loud squeaking sound, I choose not to wait for it to break down and compost.Maintenance cost is low. GEME does not require replaceable filters, which if anyone has priced those for other brands of composters, they are expensive. At the time when we first bought our GEME, small bags of GEME compost starter were not available, so we bought a small inexpensive bag of compost starter from Amazon, which lasted for about a year and a half. When we empty out our GEME we leave a little bit of compost in the bottom and add a couple tablespoons of compost starter to restart the process. There was no social media help for GEME when we first bought ours, so I monitored and still monitor social media support groups for the other brand composters. I've never had any of the troubles those other brands have. For example, on that other brand people have trouble with their liner melting and that's never happened with GEME. Pictures of compost for that other brand just look junkie. My GEME compost looks rich and fertile.I've read some of the reviews on here where people are having issues. I'll just say read the directions that come with the GEME. GEME is easy. No regrets and still feeling like I won a jackpot.

Composting Game Changer

I was looking for a device to compost my cats poop, spent litter, and kitchen waste. I joked with my cats that it was time for them to stop living at home for free and pay their way. I already use other devices: Aerobin, FoodCycler, and Subpod. I wanted to separate the cats waste from the compost I use in my veggie garden. My plan was to use the cat waste only in flower beds away from edible plants.I read up on the Bokashi method. Some use this method in addition to vermicomposting for processing pet waste. I was looking to compost my cats poo using the bokashi method and then use GEME to heat treat. This device uses the aerobic fermentation method, which we call hot composting.During the fermentation, the GEME-Kobold (a heat-resistant composite microbial group) and the industrial-grade purification system can deodorize itself. If using bio-cat litter, you don't need to pre-treat it using the bokashi method and put it directly into GEME.I live in the Northern Hemisphere and must switch from composting outdoors in the spring and summer to indoors in the winter. Composting outdoors slows, and the vermicomposting worms who live outdoors in the Subpods are moved indoors for the winter to rest, eat, and produce worm castings, which will be used in the spring for starting seedlings.Of course you could dig a hole in the yard, insert a bucket with a top on, drill some holes. Once filled, you dig another hole in the yard and repeat the process. Given I live in a state with four seasons, once the ground freezes and snow take over, the only option is to throw the waste in the trash or store it until spring in an air tight container. Eau de poo, no thank you.At first the GEME worked fine, then after a couple of months it stopped processing the waste and began to pile up (see the before photo). I contacted the company. Upon reviewing my amateur photos and video, they knew what the problem was and quickly provided a solution by swapping out an old part for the new. I am one of the early users. A known defect with the first generation has since been correced and improved. It's now working again. In the past, I didn't include the cat litter. Different opinions made me cautious to add it, but a representative from the company said it was okay as long as it is bio waste. I use pine pellets. Since I live in the Northern Hemisphere, when the bin becomes full (during winter), I put the excess compost in a container to use in the spring. You may be looking at the price and asking yourself, "is it worth the cost?" I can tell you; it is worth the investment. I live in the Midwest, and my state has experienced drought the last two years. I learned by adding compost and topsoil, soil retains more water and reduces the amount of watering (I only use rain barrels). I no longer throw away kitchen waste, have reduced garbage going into the bin (less to lift), and spend less time pulling weeds out of the garden. It's been a win-win.

Great household composter with a caveat

We love our geme. Silent, large capacity, easy to use, but we've had to keep it in the garage due to the odor. Its not terrible smelling, sort of musty sweet. I'm just sensitive to smells so the simple solution was for us to move it to a separate space. Just an FYI

Outstanding composter

The media could not be loaded.

I had been searching for years for something that I could compost meat with. I use to do bokashi but the buckets got so gross overtime. I couldn't keep it outside because in the summers it would get so hot it would kill the bokashi. I read up on the new electric composters that were coming on the market but hated the fact they essentially cooked and sterilized the final product. Not very good to put into a garden that you are trying to develop the microbes in the soil. Then I found this little gem. This composter works on the same principals as bokashi but you can keep it in the house. It smells really sweet but only when you open the inner lid. I can't smell a thing even walking past it. The first day I put 4 lbs of assorted left overs in it like chicken, salami, rice, tortillas and an old salad I forgot about ??. It all disappeared into the compost by the end of the day. This thing is outstanding. I'm so stoked they finally came out with something like this on the market. I did read post where people said they had mold or dirt when they opened the package and unloaded the composter. It happened to me too but it was because the little bag of Kobalt opened. Its just the starter that leaked all over but it didn't hurt the composter at all. A quick wipe down and all was well. This thing is seriously life changing. If you are on the fence about it just do it. You won't regret it

Great product and great customer service - ideal gift for anyone setting up a new home.

As described by other customers, this composter is great considering quietness, capacity, and appearance. I will add that Geme customer service is also responsive and helpful. Our unit had an issue as it turns out and intermittently tripped our kitchen circuit breaker. Geme support helped us troubleshoot and ultimately decided to give us a replacement. Returning via ground shipping was cost free and easy. So far, no problems with the new unit and we’re pleased with its trouble-free performance.\nI especially love this device because it saves me time that was once used (wasted) spent chopping up kitchen scraps, bringing out to a garden composter, regularly rotating the composter, etc. Now, we never have to leave the kitchen because this machine does everything that the old composting system did, only better!. It’s produces odor-free quality compost with no human labor required and only needs emptying maybe once in three or four months. It quickly digests and dehydrates everything - just open the lid and drop the scraps in, it does the rest.\nYes, it costs a bit - but what quality appliance doesn’t? In my view, this is a life enhancer for both home owner and the environment. Consider as a perfect gift for newly weds or anyone setting up a new home. They, and their flower beds, will appreciate it for years to come.

No regrets after months of owning it

I love organic gardening and very conscious of helping Earth with excessive waste especially food waste so months ago, I stumbled upon Geme. I was fortunate that I did not buy the other counter top popular brand which I have heard of compared to Geme. I was reluctant at first because it’s something unheard of but all boxes were checked by Geme. I love it and worth the price! I have been using it for months and it works perfectly well. Believe me, no smell at all. Even opening it, it only smelled like soy sauce. My regular trash can is smellier than Geme. Plus my waste was significantly less since using this. Electricity wise, it does not break a bank. Love love my Geme!

The Best Composter on the Market!

I've been considering a composter for some time and reviewed a ton of them but was always drawn back to Geme. Turns out I was right and the Geme is the best composter I've seen. It's attractive, doesn't smell the house up, powerful and fun. My kids are into it. And the support is top notch. My only regret is that I waited so long to purchase one. And it arrived within days of placing my order. I can't say enough about the product, the support and the "feel good" factor knowing that we are contributing to a better planet.

Interesting Product

Still warming up to it. Got mine without the shovel, scraper or micro-bio substance. Will update as I go. It's quiet. Can't find tracking on the site. English is not well translated. TBD

Highly recommend!

I've been using this composter for a few days. Now and I'm really impressed with its performance. It's efficient, easy to use, and has significantly reduced my household's food waste. One thing to note is that this composter is not designed for use on kitchen counters, but rather on a stable, flat surface. Regardless, it's a great investment for anyone looking to reduce their carbon footprint and create their own nutrient-rich compost.

I am super happy with it.

I have had this for a few weeks now and have placed a variety of items into it to compose. So far all the corn have been broken down in a day. I do make a point to make sure the pieces are fairly small to help it along. The only bones I feel are okay for it are very small bones that won't get stuck in the mixing propeller. And no smell, even with meat!

M

Price is fair compared to smaller ones that are $200 less .

It is fairly bigger than a regular sized kitchen trash can. It is quite and works amazing it has a modern look as well I put my leftover food my dead plants my cats poop etc etc it dose not smell bad it just smells like the dirt stuff that came with it, mixes well and fast definitely reduces so much waste. I did not realize how much waste was coming out of just my household before this I feel much better about doing my part to reduce waste. In japan these are actually mandatory in homes! worth the money I recommend.
